Happy B'day Janaki

The singer with a magnetic voice who still charms the music lovers all over the country is S Janaki.

A winner of four national awards, she has captured the hearts of millions of people through various language including Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada.

She was born in Pallapatla, Repalle village, Guntur District, Andhra Pradesh. She has sung about 20,000 songs in her career, in almost all languages in South India as well as in Hindi, Sinhalese, Bengali, Oriya, English, Sanskrit, Konkani, Tulu, Saurashtra, Baduga, Japanese and German.

She has sung songs with renowned singers like P Susheela, Vani Jayaram, Madhuri, K J Yesudas, K S Chithra, S P Balasubramanyam and Jayachandran.

Janaki has a unique capability to change her voice and sing in a range of tones. She is a great lyricist and music composer.

A devotee of Lord Krishna and Shirdi Sai Baba, she spends a lot of time praying and has also released devotional music cassettes on Meera.

The prolific singer celebrates her birthday on 23 April.
