Thanks to his excellent portrayal in Unnale Unnale, model-turned - actor Vinay has emerged the new romantic hero in Kollywood. His rich and suave urbanite looks has won him instant fans among the young girls.

The ease in which he performed his role also won him enough appreciations. Jeeva, who introduced the likes of Arya, Shaam, Asin and Pooja among others, has yet again brought a promising actor to Tamil cinema.

The bumper opening of Unnale Unnale has resulted in Vinay being assigned by director Gandhi Krishna to work in the lead role for his next movie. It would be produced by Oscar Ravichandran.

Gandhi Krishna has so far rendered a couple of movies Nila Kaalam and Chellamae.

Vishal and Boopathy Pandian are coming together for Malaikottai, a movie that would star Vishal in dual roles. It provides an opportunity for Vishal to try his hand at action as well as comedy.

The movie will hit the floors on 3 May and would be shot on and around Tiruchirapalli. Search is on for the heroine. The movie would have musical score by Manisharma. With Vishal’s market soaring high in Tollywood, plans are on to dub the movie in Telugu too.

Happy at the success of his last venture Thiruvilayadal Arambham, Boopathy Pandian is confident on continuing his victory streak in Malaikottai too.

The movie is produced by T Ajay Kumar, who produced films including Vikram starrer Arul before.

Sources close to the director say, “Genelia aka Harini has been zeroed in by Gowtham. Supposedly a big-budgeted movie, Varanam Aayiram would be shot in Afghanistan, Russia, USA and Malaysia”.

The audio of 'Aata' directed by VN Aditya and produced by MS Raju on the banner of Sumanth Arts with Siddhartha and Ileana in the lead is ready for launch on April 27.

Producer MS Raju says, 'The hero in this film keeps doing his own job and lives happily. Suddenly, a girl enters into his life. Along with that girl, a problem would also surface. How the hero solved the problem of that girl and won her love is the subject. Like Maheshbabu was found apt for the film 'Okkadu', Siddhartha would be very apt for the hero's role in 'Aata'. The latest schedule of 'Athidi' directed by Y Surender Reddy and produced by G Ramesh Babu on the banner of Krishna Productions with Prince Maheshbabu and Amritha Rao in the lead has begun in Hyderabad on April 17.

Very recently, the 'Athidi' unit went to Norway to can songs and some important scenes and returned to India. During the current schedule, some emotional scenes would be shot on Maheshbabu.

The basic theme of the film is that every individual would take birth on the earth and would reach the target after contemplating all his duties.

Maheshbabu is being portrayed with a different look in the film. Even the hairstyle of Maheshbabu would sport a different look.

'Mega Season' soon in Telugu film industry

The Telugu film industry had different seasons like Sankranthi, Summer and Dasara seasons. However, the present year would have a new season called 'Mega Season'.

Because, there will be four films from the Mega Star Chiranjeevi's family this year.

All of them would hit the screen during this year alone. Though four months almost elapsed, only 'Desamuduru' proved to be a blockbuster in this year.

But in the forthcoming months, many films are getting released from the Mega Star's family.

Above all, Stylish Star Allu Arjun's film directed by 'Bommaillu' Bhaskar is going to be launched in May and likely to be released in December.

'Chirutha' shoots key scenes

The shooting of a film directed by Puri Jagannath and produced by C Aswinidutt on the banner of Vyjayanti Movies with Ramcharan Teja, son of Padma Bhushan, Mega Star, Dr Chiranjeevi, as hero and Delhi model Neha in the female lead, is progressing at a brisk pace in Bangkok.

Some key scenes involving Ramcharan Teja and Neha were shot very recently.

Canning of two songs were also complete, besides an action episode. It is reliably learnt that the entire first half of the film would run with Bangkok in its backdrop.

The film is completely being made a youthful entertainer and Manisharma is giving melodious tunes to all the songs.

The unit members were claiming that Ramcharan Teja is showing very good ease in dance numbers like his father Chiranjeevi.

'Chirutha' is the title under consideration for the flick and it was planned to release the film on August 22.

The shooting of 'Munna' produced by Dil Raju on the banner of Sri Venkateswara Creations introducing Vamsy Paidipally as director with Young Rebel Star Prabhas and the latest heartthrob of Telugu audiences Ileana in lead was completed on April 18 with the canning of the last song at Sarathi Studios.

Harris Jayaraj scored music for the film and the audio which was released through Supreme Audio was getting a very positive result.

Producer Dil Raju opined that the audio sales would further pick up after the release of the movie.

Shriya performed in a special dance number for the movie.

The film is being made with a good point which had social awareness. 'It is Munna, who would correct if someone commits a mistake' is the theme of the film. The film is all set to hit the screen on April 27.

Post-production works are in full swing for the flick. Producer Dil Raju is expressing confidence that like all his earlier productions, 'Dil, Arya, Bhadra and Bommarillu' our latest flick 'Munna' too would earn a super-hit talk right from the morning show on the first day.

A prolific Indian singer affectionately called SPB developed an interest in music very early in his life. Balasubramanyam made his debut in film music as a singer in 1966 with Sri Sri Sri Maryada Ramanna, a film scored by his mentor Kodandapani. He holds the Guinness record for having sung the most number of song recordings by any single male singer (the corresponding record for a female singer is held by Lata Mangeshkar).

SPB, who welcomes modern technology in music making as it enhances both speed and results, is a multi-faceted personality. A singer, actor, producer and a music composer, he is the only singer to have sung for actors spanning three generations.

Winner of many a national awards and other accolades, he says he has still a lot to achieve. Something the young singers should emulate.

Guess where Actor Vikram was on his birthday today (April 17)? He was at Vidya Sudha, an initiative of the Sri Ramachandra Learning Centre for children with special needs. He distributed sweets to the children and spent a little more than an hour with children suffered from Autism, Dyslexia, Down’s Syndrome and other disabilities.

Vikram is a patron-cum-brand ambassador for this 15-month-old institute. He visited the institute earlier on Holi and this time he recollected to the children what he had spoken to them. He sang rhymes such as ‘Incy Vincy Spider’ and ‘Johnny Johnny What Pappa’ to the children who happily joined him in chorus. “It’s strange why such beautiful and happy children are disowned by their parents,” he said sadly. Vikram is a regular visitor to this institute and keeps track of what is happening there. Good work, Vikram!

M.S Raju and Mahesh have delivered the sensational blockbuster – Okkadu to the industry. On Pongal this year, producer Raju announced his decision to make another film with Mahesh. Though many a time, a project between the two seemed to materialize, none of them finalized. The film is titled ‘Hare Rama Hare Krishna’ which is incidentally the lyric of Okkadu’s title song. Trivikram Srinivas, who directed the superhit Athadu directs this film. The movie’s muhurath would be held on the 9th of August (2006 = 31), which is incidentally Prince Mahesh’s birthday. The other projects of Trivikram, which are still at a negotiation stage is a film with Venkatesh and Allu Arjun.

Trisha has a ‘fan’tastic Birthday

Idol worship is not uncommon in the south — heroines get temples and posters of heroes get a regular pal abhishekam (milk bath). However, women activists have broken new grounds in Chennai. A group of fans of actress Trisha have set a new trend by celebrating her birthday (which is on May 4) like that of top heroes in Kollywood.

The fan club headed by Ms. Jesi, a resident of Chennai, had erected huge hoardings and banners at various vantage points in Chennai to wish Trisha . The hoardings read — Happy Birthday Trisha – Our Dream Angel of South India. The highlight of their four-day long celebration was the pal abhishekam for Trisha’s picture in front of Kamala theatre on the busy Vadapalani road on Wednesday. They also burnt 1000-ladi fire crackers at all the 12 places where the hoardings were put up.

They did not stop at this. As the Tamil Film Producers Council has banned the release of birthday advertisements, which was normally dome for all leading heroes, Jesi has given huge newspaper ads in several vernacular papers at Hyderabad wishing Trisha on her birthday, because the actress is popular in Tollywood too.

How did this idea start? An excited Jesi said, “I am an ardent fan of Trisha.

She is so beautiful and acts really well. I lived in the Middle East till last year, and though I wanted to do something on Trisha’s birthday every year, sitting in Dubai nothing was possible. After coming here, I saw the birthdays of all the top heroes being celebrated by their fans. So I formed a Trisha fan club and this is our first activity. Is Trisha aware of it? “We are not expecting anything from her. This is the way we are showing our love for her, says Jesi.

And if you think that her birthday was all about publicity, the fan club organised a lavish lunch for 100 inmates of the CSI Old Age Home and another lunch for the mentally disabled home attached to Dr. Ravi’s clinic. Jesi has a lot of activities planned to show their adulation for the actress. “We are also planning to celebrate the release of every new Trisha film by erecting huge cut-outs at various theatres on the first day of the release. We will decorate the cutouts with mammoth garlands and burn crackers. Free tickets will be distributed to few people. I have already chalked out a plan for her next release Something Something Unakkum Enakkum at the end of the month,” she said.

Happy Birthday Chiranjeevi!

We wish Chiranjeevi many many happy returns of the day!

Very few know about Konidela Siva Sankara Varaprasad, but he is quite famous as Chiranjeevi. Right from a five-year-old kid to a 70-year-old man, everyone likes him for his style of action both in fights as well as dances. Though dancing in Telugu films during duets was 'started' long ago, it is Chiranjeevi who added some style and flavour to them.

Born on August 22, 1955 at Mogaltur in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, Chiranjeevi is quiet fond of acting and joined the Film Institute in Madras, after completing his B.Com degree. He started his career in a small role in 'Punadi Rallu', but the first film that saw the light is 'Pranam Khareedu'. The audiences started liking him because of his ease in dance movements and swashbuckling fights. However, he also tried his hand in soft roles also like Subhalekha, Intlo Ramaiah Veedhilo Krishnaiah to name a few. However, he got a good break as commercial hero with 'Khaidi'. With the tremendous success of 'Khaidi' he turned a big star.

Several of his films proved commercial hits and many producers are after him as his film gives them minimum guarantee. Though there are no godfathers for him in the film industry, he worked hard and cemented his position in the tinsel world just through his performance and became a numero uno of Telugu film industry. For that matter, there are several top class artistes/heroes in Telugu like Nagarjuna, Balakrishna and Venkatesh and some of them also acknowledge that Chiru is the Mega Star and had the stature to be called the numero uno.

His movies like 'Rudraveena, Swayam Krushi, Apadbandhavudu' proves his urge to satiate the real artiste in him. Though they failed commercially, they earned him a place in several audience as an artiste. It may be noted that a top class national weekly like 'India Today' some time ago declared that Chiranjeevi is being paid the highest remuneration than Amitabh Bachchan, whom the entire country believe that it is Big 'B' the highest paid artiste.

As an artiste he enthralled the audiences on the silver screen. At the same time, he had decided to expand his activities for the social cause, by utilizing his fans in a right manner. He started Chiranjeevi Charitable Trust, which promotes blood and eye donations. Through the trust, Chiranjeevi had helped several people in getting sight and the blood collected through his blood banks is saving lives of hundreds of people.

Recently President Abdul Kalam inaugurated Chiranjeevi Charitable Foundation and released the first vision document of the foundation. It is a privilege for the foundation that the first citizen of India visiting a private organization and launching it. It is Chiranjeevi who had a number of awards. Above all Chiranjeevi had bagged the third highest civilian award 'Padma Bhushan' of India.
